DFW Cars

My name is Jack Santage, or otherwise known as DFWCARS on social media. I am an automotive content creator based out of Dallas, Texas. Throughout the last 4 years, I’ve taken my social media and the name “DFWCARS” to heights I never imagined I could. What once all started out as a fun instagram to throw pics on to clear up storage on my phone now turned into my biggest passion and what I hope to make my full time gig one day. I’m mostly known for the work I put out, but never have had a full chance to share my story or how I got to be where I am today!

I started my instagram account when I was just 15 years old, bored in my room, and wanted to  delete some old photos on my phone. Most of my camera roll was cars from car shows I went to or just out and about that I saw on the street. I created the instagram with the intent of being a “spam” instagram, but didn’t tell any of my friends or really anyone because I didn’t think it was a big deal. I wasn’t looking for followers or any “attention”, I just simply posted for fun. After a few weeks, I would end up going to A LOT more car shows because my high school football season had just ended, so I met a few people I’d see regularly at meets. Owners of cars, people with cameras, event hosts, etc. I grew close to them and started to consider them as friends and we created group chats to talk in, mainly for people who were posting car photos. However I never really felt that comfortable in them at first because it was always group chats of “photographers”. I was no photographer, I was some kid with a phone. After some time, I decided to try and edit some of my pics for fun using lightroom mobile, and I grew a liking for it immediately. I found an interest in wanting to make photos look better, make colors pop, and learn how to make nice looking photos. Was I becoming a photographer? Surely not.

2 months later I bought my first camera, a Canon T7. I LOVED that camera. I slowly started to feel a fire in me to learn how to be a photographer, make cars pop, and make some photos I would have as my screensaver as a kid growing up. After some time, things picked up, I met more and more people and my name was being remembered by a lot of people. Photographers, owners, even random strangers! It felt so surreal to me, a camera could  bring me all of these friends, connections, and opportunities? About 6 months into owning a camera, I got my first paid photoshoot. A 1963 split window corvette. I’ll never forget that feeling of first being paid for my work. I never thought I could make my work monetizable, let alone someone who just met me wanting to pay me for my photos. That point was a huge turning point for me, as I wanted more. I wanted to do more private shoots, not just car show photos. As time went on, I never stopped introducing myself to the right people, meeting new people, and making as much content as possible.

Here I am, 4 years later, having an audience of over 100,000 followers who want to see my work and the content I create, and it all feels like a dream. Never in a million years could I imagine myself to be in the places I am now, but I am so thankful for everyone who’s helped and supported me on the way of this journey. I appreciate each and every single one of you who continues to support my content and all that I do, here’s to a new step in the journey!
